Double Trouble 2009
Nr Weston-Super-Mare, 29th to 31st MayReport and pictures by Wendy, so far.
Well, this rally certainly broke the pattern, as far as the weather went. It was pleasant enough for the journey down on Friday morning - and it just went on getting better. A veritable heatwave!!
By mid-afternoon our group had all arrived and set up, the field was filling fast, and it was time to chill and chat.
Gary appears to be practising his magic tricks on John - "Just like that ..."
JJ and I had not been to this rally before, but Jules and Kerry rated it, and they weren't wrong! Can you beat this view? It was a beautiful evening, and we had this to look at every time we stepped out of our tents.
The camping field is alongside a farm which is open to day visitors - ponies and goats amongst the attractions. As we were on their land, we were able to walk through and use the facilities including a small cafe, shop, showers and toilet blocks. Everything was spotless and the water was hot. The bar was set up in a large barn with a Western atmosphere. Only drawback - the beer was pretty mediocre (no real ale) but this is cider country and the Thatchers was on draft; the 'Gold' turned out to be very drinkable!
The hot weather certainly brought out the rally-goers - by Friday night the field was packed, and on Saturday they had to open an overflow field! Luckily, the facilities were more than adequate. There were some excellent trade stands, and the food van provided some of the best food we've had at a rally, and at excellent prices.
